Welcome to the home Shannon D. Wells, author of the Laurel Private Eye series.

Laurel’s a steel magnolia from Mississippi who moves to Dallas with her husband Tom in the summer of 1932. Laurel gets pulled deeper and deeper into Tom’s Pinkerton Detective activities from her office job at the Agency, and the cases get wilder and more intense.

You never quite know what Tom or the clients are going to be up to, or what dangerous or unique characters they’re going to encounter.

A little bit historical, a little bit noir and a whole lot of Southern character, the Laurel Private Eye mysteries are for anyone who enjoys characters with some grit, and some of the more curious aspects of history in the time when Bonnie and Clyde were running wild.

About

Shannon D Wells BW Headshot 1

Hi, I’m Shannon. I’m a former construction management professional turned author and budding introvert. I get my kicks writing, reading and researching unusual ways to kill and/or defraud people. I sometimes worry that the men in black are going to show up to my house over an internet search term.

I grew up watching classic films, including a lot of screwball comedies, and reading anything I could get my hands on – mysteries, comedies, some science fiction, anything where there was a large series to get my fix (although I never got into Nancy Drew. My first book I ever wrote at age 11 was a 200+ page Nancy Drew satire).

Some of my favorite characters are Sherlock Holmes (and eventually, his wife, Mary Russell), Bertie and Jeeves, and John Carter.

This has all culminated in writing a series of mysteries based on the life of an infamous great aunt (actually multiple greats) who was a Pinkerton detective in Dallas beginning in the 1930’s. The first Laurel Private Investigator Mystery is available!

I live in Dallas, Texas with my favorite husband, our little girls, and two black lab rescues.

If you’d like to get in touch with me, shannon@shannondwells.com is a great way to do that. I’d love to hear recommendations for classic film or historical mysteries I need to watch or read.
